ENVIRONMENT AND SAFETY

Commitment to a better world

A successful company not only demonstrates a strong internal focus, but also takes responsibility for the environment. Environmental protection and resource conservation have therefore been an integral part of our philosophy for more than 30 years and have been strengthened as well as further advanced by many measures in recent years.

We take responsibility!

Environmental protection

Thinking outside the box

We plan, monitor and evaluate all our processes in terms of their environmental relevance. We achieved DIN EN ISO 14001 certification back in 1999.

Our current energy management system is based on DIN EN ISO 50001, which is certified until 2020.

Environmental management system DIN EN ISO 14001

All of us – the management and employees of JUMO GmbH & Co. KG – have for many years been aware of our responsibility to protect people and the environment. This applies to our private surroundings as well as within our company.

Energy management

Ensuring that energy-efficient JUMO products also use little energy in their manufacture is an important contribution to climate protection and the conservation of natural resources. For this reason, we have consistently installed a system in recent years to monitor our energy consumption within the company and to improve the energy efficiency of our processes.

The amount of energy used by JUMO in the manufacture of our products is so low that in 2020 we decided to replace the energy management system according to DIN EN ISO 50001 with an energy audit according to DIN EN 16247. We will carry out an energy audit in accordance with the deadline of May 28, 2024. Until then the last certificate of the surveillance audit of the energy management system is considered a fictitious energy audit according to the statements of the German Federal Office of Economics and Export Control (BAFA).

100 companies for climate protection — we're in!

Sustainable business is more important than ever. The Hesse sustainability strategy has provided a platform for the state in which societal groups such as companies, municipalities, and schools can get involved together.

At least 100 companies are to commit to greater climate protection as a result of which they will present their activities and plans for CO2 reduction in an action plan. We ourselves have been documenting our commitment to environmental protection with the DIN EN ISO 14001 management system for almost 12 years, so that signing the charter for climate protection was a logical step.

Material compliance

RoHS

Since 1999 we have committed ourselves to environmental protection through the certification in accordance with DIN EN ISO 14001 - here we are also engaged beyond the legal necessities. This includes, in particular, the extensive avoidance of hazardous substances and the conservation of finite resources in our production. Upon request, we will gladly confirm that certain devices comply with the RoHS directives and, if applicable, the EU declaration of conformity.

REACH

REACH, a new Europe-wide chemicals law, was introduced on June 1, 2007, making manufacturers and importers of chemicals responsible for the safe handling of their substances. This agreement also applies to downstream users.

Our devices are continuously tested and the information updated in the context of the semi-annual updates of the REACH candidate list (SVHC). If substances listed in the current REACH regulation as "SVHC - Substances of Very High Concern" should exceed the permissible limit values in our products, we will inform our customers immediately in accordance with Article 33 of the EU Chemicals Regulation 1907/2006.

Upon sending a request to materialcompliance@jumo.net, we will gladly confirm that certain devices comply with the currently valid REACH regulation.

Conflict minerals

As a supplier to various U.S. companies, we are required to comply with all relevant legal requirements and regulations. Under the Dodd-Frank Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act, companies listed on U.S. stock exchanges must disclose the origin of "conflict minerals" such as tin, tantalum, tungsten, gold, and their ores from areas in and around the Democratic Republic of Congo/Africa. Upon sending a request to materialcompliance@jumo.net we will be happy to provide you with all the necessary information.
